 rockin'AC Targets The Forgotten Generation  

Generation Jones is the generation sandwiched right in between Baby Boomers and Generation "X-ers," and DRAMATICALLY different from both of them.  Joneser's (as they are known) did not grow up with the Beatles and Stones, they grew up with the Brady Bunch and Gilligan's Island.  And they currently make up the largest segment of the adult population.

If it were true that you should only serve a narrow demographic, then why does Wal-Mart have the largest annual revenue of any company in America?  Only at Wal-Mart can you walk in and buy a head of lettuce, a shovel, and a DVD player at 2 o'clock in the morning.  Now that's variety!

Where did you come up with the oxymoron rockinAC?:  While everyone wants to be nostalgic on occasion, they don't want to be nostalgic "all the time."  If they did, Oldies stations would have much longer TSL.  People can only listen to Oldies exclusively for a limited amount of time or they start to feel "out of touch" with what's going on in the world.  A difficult thing for them to stay away from considering most of them are the decision makers in the world right now!  People in their 30's and 40's like their oldies, but they like Daughtry, Kelly Clarkson,, and John Mayer too.  This format plays it all.

It's perfect for small town radio stations!  It causes chaos in big markets because it takes listeners from all kinds of formats!  And, it'll have one of the longest TSL's in the market!

Everyone will tell you you're crazy, too broad, and not focused. But remember, Ries & Trout said:  "You must be first in positioning for the battle of your mind."  If you choose rockin'AC, you will DEFINITELY be first ...in variety and TSL.  You've never heard anything like it!
